Description

A Timeless Classic: The Atlas Izem

Introducing The Atlas Izem, a magnificent Beni Mrirt rug that perfectly balances timeless Moroccan tradition with bold, graphic design. Hand-knotted by our experienced cooperative of Amazigh weavers in the high Atlas Mountains, this rug is more than a floor covering—it is a piece of genuine, enduring art.

The design features an impactful, interlocking black and white diamond geometric pattern set against a creamy, natural undyed wool base. The high-contrast, graphic lines create a mesmerizing visual rhythm that anchors any room, adding sophistication to modern, Scandinavian, or traditional interiors. Its dense, luxurious shag pile provides unparalleled softness and a plush underfoot experience.

Craftsmanship & Cooperative Heritage: Woven by Our Hands

The creation of The Atlas Izem is a proud and meticulous process managed entirely by our weaving cooperative. Every stage, from the shearing of the wool to the final finishing, is performed entirely by our skilled members, ensuring quality, authenticity, and ethical production:

  • Premium Beni Mrirt Wool: We begin with the highest quality 100% natural wool, known for its long, fine fibers and exceptional softness, which gives the rug its signature luxurious Beni Mrirt texture. The wool is locally sourced, hand-carded, and spun within our community.

  • Monochrome Palette: The black wool is carefully dyed using high-quality pigments, while the ivory/beige is the natural, undyed color of the sheep’s wool.

  • Hand-Knotting: Utilizing the traditional Berber knot technique, every single knot is tied by hand on a vertical loom. The meticulous process of defining the sharp diamond pattern and creating the dense shag pile ensures a durable, heirloom-quality rug.

When you purchase The Atlas Izem, you are investing in a piece of authentic Moroccan heritage and directly supporting the economic empowerment and preservation of this ancient craft within our cooperative structure.
