About Us: The Story of Berber Creations
Our Roots & Identity Founded by Oumaima Bahou, Berber Creations is a Tangier-based artisanal project dedicated to the preservation and creation of authentic Moroccan rugs. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, we are direct producers. Every rug we offer is a testament to the heritage of our family-run workshop located in the heart of the Middle Atlas mountains.
Direct Production: From Loom to Home At Berber Creations, we oversee every single step of the production cycle:
Sourcing Raw Material: We personally select and purchase high-quality organic wool in bulk, ensuring the finest textures for our creations.
Artisanal Craftsmanship: Our rugs are hand-knotted on traditional looms by skilled family artisans who have mastered the craft over generations.
Natural Processing: We use natural dyes and traditional washing techniques, allowing each piece to develop its unique “Abrash” effect—a hallmark of authentic, hand-spun wool.
Quality Oversight: Every rug, including our custom orders, undergoes a final personal inspection by Oumaima Bahou before being dispatched to our clients worldwide.
Our Commitment We believe in fair trade and transparency. By working directly with our weavers in our private atelier, we ensure fair wages and support the local community while bringing a piece of Moroccan history into your living space.

“I am Oumaima, and I hail from a quaint Berber village in the heart of Morocco. My fascination with Berber rugs traces back to my childhood, where I was fortunate to glean a wealth of knowledge from my grandmother and mother. This encompassed everything from the intricate symbolism, knotting techniques, to the art of the tanning process.
At Berber Creations, my foremost objective is to empower and uplift small women artisans. I’m deeply committed to fostering their businesses and enhancing their ability to secure their livelihoods. It is my firm belief that these artisans deserve the recognition and appreciation they often do not receive.
